Landscaping Ripley

We do landscaping in Ripley for new homes, turning bare handover blocks into finished yards, with retaining walls where the block needs them.

Ripley’s new estates

Ripley is one of the biggest growth areas in South East Queensland, with new estates releasing land every year. Most homes here are handed over with little or nothing done outside the house. The usual job is the full yard: site preparation, levels and drainage, turf, garden beds, paths and a paved area off the alfresco.

Sloping blocks and retaining walls

Parts of Ripley are hilly, and plenty of blocks have a real fall from front to back or side to side. Builders cut a flat pad for the house and leave the slope. Concrete sleeper retaining walls are the usual answer, and stepping them in tiers can create usable lawn and garden levels while keeping each wall under the height that needs engineering. See our retaining walls page for the rules.

Getting the drainage right first

New-build blocks in Ripley often have compacted fill and clay that doesn’t drain. If turf is laid straight on top, it struggles and the yard stays boggy after rain. We sort out the levels, add drainage where it’s needed and bring in proper soil before anything is planted.

Staging the work

A new home is a big expense, and not everyone wants the whole yard done at once. A common approach is to do the earthworks, retaining walls and drainage first, then turf and garden beds later. Doing it in that order avoids ripping up new lawn to fix problems underneath.

Landscaping Ripley: what we do

Concrete sleeper and block walls for sloping and stepped blocks.

Paths, patios and alfresco extensions on a base built for clay.

Low-maintenance lawn for shady spots, dog runs and small yards.

Flat, shaded outdoor space off the back of the house.

Timber and composite decks, low off the back door or raised to level out a sloping block.

Ripley landscaping FAQs

Can you work around my builder’s handover date?

Yes. Book the quote before handover if you can, so the work can start soon after you get the keys. Site access before handover is up to your builder.

Walls over 1 metre, or walls supporting a driveway, pool or building, generally need approval and engineering. Your estate may also have its own rules. We check this at the quote.
